Fridays Beach Resort Puerto Galera

From Sabang Beach, we rented a boat to do island hopping for the whole day. We started late that morning and left at around 9:30. Fridays was not the original plan but our boatman advised that the island we are supposed to chill-in was already full, we are then diverted to this awesome island.

The boat sailed through the morning calm waters passing by Batangas Channel. On the way, we have glimpsed on a lot of different beaches within the area.

It was about 30 minutes sail when we reached the beach in Boquete island. The location is just amazing, the sand is fine and the water is clear. There are only several groups of people occupying the area. Less crowd is less noise.

Lunch came and we were served with grilled fish, pork and chicken together with steamed rice. Fresh bananas and mangoes for dessert. Different cola and bottled water for the drinks. If you would want to avoid the hassle of preparing food and bringing it, you can arrange it as a package together with the boat, they will cook it just in time and serve it hot. Note that bringing in food and drinks to this resort will entitle you to pay a corkage fee.

After the meal, we just enjoyed ourselves dipping in the waters, snorkeling and watching the sailing yachts of the Puerto Galera Yacht Club. I have counted 10 different kinds, all of which are a fun to look at.

We hopped out of the island at around 4:00 PM and transferred on to Muelle Pier to buy some souvenirs, we then decided to return to Sabang to prepare for our early morning departure back to Manila.

Unlike the serene water in the morning, our way back is a rocky one. The tides are splashing on the sides of the boat and the waves are high. Some of my friends did not like it, but I honestly enjoyed the trip, I really do.
This is one of my memorable beach trips and I would want to explore more.

Sabang Beach Puerto Galera

My colleagues and I planned a trip to Baguio for the Lenten holidays but instead we ended up going to Puerto Galera. Reason being, all bus companies bound to Baguio are fully booked.

Our time became tight due to the change in destination, cramming up checking the internet of a place to stay. Since we are all first time goers without any idea on what part is good, we just booked the first available accommodation on our search so that the vacation would push through.

Black Saturday came and we are off to Galera. Coming from Manila, we boarded a bus to Batangas. It was close to a 3-hour travel when we reached the port. Good thing one of my friend is from Batangas, we already got our ticket and just waited for the boat to load. Another hour via sea we reached our destination, Sabang Beach.

Having no information on Sabang Beach, I was at first thinking of the other amazing Puerto Galera pictures seen on the internet - semi white beach and crystal clear water. It seemed I was imagining about the popular White Beach.

I was disappointed at first by just looking at the coastal line but upon learning what the beach has to offer, it turned out we are just on the right place.

Sabang Beach has no spaceous seashore, no semi-white sand, and not so crystal clear water. What it has is a grassy and rocky beach with lots of motor boats. Yes, it is not ideal for swimming but what it is best for is diving and island hopping.

There are a lot of dive sites near Sabang as well as swim and snorkeling locations which for me is far better, less crowd, more private and much relaxing. There is just a need to hire a boat to get to your ideal location but it is worth it.

Check out my post about Fridays Beach Resort. This is where we hopped!
